Modern life is increasingly shaped by uncertainty and rapid technological change, driving rising levels of anxiety, stress, and emotional disconnection. At the same time, loneliness has become a modern epidemic, while traditional mental health support remains inaccessible or undesirable for many people. Existing tarot and wellness apps felt transactional and impersonal, offering static readings without emotional connection or long-term engagement.

Create a warm, emotionally resonant AI companion that helps users navigate uncertainty through reflection, comfort, and playful interaction, transforming tarot from a one-time utility into an ongoing relationship and personal ritual.

The experience needed to feel magical while running smoothly on low-end mobile devices, balance emotional depth with simplicity, and translate complex AI systems into something intuitive and approachable.

I designed the product as a narrative-driven companion rather than a tool. The UX focused on simplicity, emotional flow, and progressive discovery, guiding users naturally while building attachment over time through character presence, rewards, and evolving interactions.

As Product Owner, I led the entire project from vision to live product, owning UX design, creative direction, technical art, and system implementation. I worked closely with a small team including a developer and an illustrator, iterating rapidly from early beta onward to continuously refine the experience based on real user feedback.

At the heart of Nébula is a generative AI tarot engine driven by carefully designed prompt systems and interaction flows. The system adapts to user questions and engagement patterns over time, delivering increasingly personalized, uplifting, and context-aware reflections rather than static interpretations.

The experience blends mystical tarot-inspired atmospheres with real photography of Nébula, grounding the magical world in something tangible and emotionally real. Dynamic VFX, custom shaders, and thoughtfully crafted light and dark modes created an immersive atmosphere, while original contemporary music compositions by [Bungalovv](https://soundcloud.com/bungalovv) shaped the emotional tone of each moment.

Launching in super-early beta allowed rapid iteration driven directly by user feedback. Continuous UX and system refinements led to strong retention growth and deep emotional connection with users. The product cultivated highly devoted communities, fan art, and enthusiastic reviews, and maintained an average 4.9 out of 5 rating even after monetization was introduced.

Treating AI as a companion rather than a utility created far stronger emotional attachment and long-term engagement. Early live feedback loops proved essential for shaping intuitive UX, meaningful progression systems, and experiences that users genuinely connect with.
